INSIDE ZENJOB’S OFFICE IN BERLIN

We visited the company ZENJOB in Berlin.

Here is the interview  – with Fritz Trott, CEO & Founder of ZENJOB – and have a look at the team and their office in Berlin.

Hello Fritz, what is Zenjob and its core business?

Zenjob is an on-demand staffing platform. We support companies in different sectors such as logistics, events/concerts, retail and the hotel industry with temporary student employees at short notice.

In our daily business, we focus on digitizing the entire process for both sides: companies and talents.

For companies we offer digital products and tools to solve the most pressing problems around short-term staffing. Data-based automation processes make booking personnel with Zenjob uncomplicated, easy and fast.

For our talents we offer a flexible working model: Students decide where, when and how often they work and are paid within 48 hours. With one click in the app talents can easily accept job offers at any time.

It has been a very serious photoshooting ;-).

How did you get to your business idea and when was your company established?

Before starting Zenjob I had a part in growing several online marketplaces and out of personal need, I had started a platform for babysitters. I then recognized a high need on the labor market for personnel on short-notice.

Later I met the Co-Founders Cihan and Frederik, who had already started working on the topic.

Cihan has a strong tech background and Frederik spent two years intensively researching labor market models.

We quickly realized that we are a good combination. We founded Zenjob in December 2015 with the intention of creating a model for work, which focuses on the individual requirements of people.

We combine the needs of students with our business model: If you are a student you need flexible working hours and you want to get paid quickly.

Are you using venture capital? And if so – who are your venture partners?

Zenjob is a venture backed company. Our main investors are Acton Capital, Redalpine and Atlantic Labs.

In which countries are you active? Are you planning to expand your venture into other countries? And if so – where?

In the next two years we want to be active in 10 more cities in Germany. Then we will go across Europe.

Where do you see the company in 5 years?

We have already paved the way towards a new way of work with a working model which offers freedom and flexibility. Our goal is to break up the inflexible structures of today’s working hours.

In the future, we want all people to be able to decide where, when and how often they work.

In the next five years, there will still be traditional employment relationships, but for those who want to live freely and self-determinedly, Zenjob will be the first choice.

Your Team

How many employees work at your company at the moment? Are you planning to expand?

Currently, we have 160 employees from 17 different nations and we are growing month by month.

What is the average age of your team members?

Our youngest employee is 20, our oldest one is 40 years old.

What kind of attitude should new employees bring, in order to work at your company?

We have four core values at Zenjob: being humble, hungry, honest and helpful. New employees also have to live by these values. It’s the core and the heart of Zenjob and it’s what makes our team spirit.

No matter how far we grow, we want to move forward as a team. And we truly believe that the values help us. “Humble” means that we listen to our customers and our internal team and put our own personal interests aside.

Our employees must be “hungry” for success and motivated to learn every day. Also, our claim is to always be “helpful” to our team, our talents and our customers – no matter what.

We want to help and support each other in every situation. In addition, we give “honest” feedback and communicate openly and transparently.

Why is it fun to work at your company? Do you offer any employee benefits?

The people who work at Zenjob firmly believe that the biggest “benefit” Zenjob offers is the team and the culture.

We are a young team and offer a great working atmosphere – flexible working hours, free drinks, company lunch every Friday and many extra-curricular activities come as standard.

When external people visit our offices, they feel this special team vibe. Following our values, we entrust employees with responsibilities above the average. We embrace possible failures and admit mistakes openly and freely.

This guarantees a healthy working atmosphere. Our approach is to offer our help to our team members in general – and not only when new employees are relocating to Berlin.

Your Office

How big is your Office?

Our Office is around 2,000 square meters.

Did you get help from an interior designer in designing the office? And if so, who did you work with?

We are a startup, everything is self-made ;). But we’ll moving into a newly designed office soon.

See you there :).
