We visited the Porsche Digital Lab in Berlin.

Your Business

What is your core business?

We focus on technology innovation. The digital lab creates new sources of value and meaning for Porsche by applying our deep understanding of technology to crack challenges by applying tech to improve business processes within Porsche departments.

Our focus lies especially on blockchain, artificial intelligence, Internet of Things and quantum computing.

How did you get to your business idea and when was your company established?

Our ‘Mission D’ is one of five central cross-cutting strategies and our commitment to drive the digital transformation forward.

Therefore, we concentrate on the three core areas of products and services, customer relationships and corporate processes. Above all, the improvement of business processes through the use of modern technologies is our top priority in the lab.

Since 2016, we have been working together with our Group’s specialist departments to identify and test how we can put technologies into practice.

In which countries are you active?

The Labs in Berlin and Tel Aviv are part of Porsche Digital, which is headquartered in Ludwigsburg and focuses especially on new digital business models as well as on digital products and services.

Therefore, we have an international focus and opened further offices in the Silicon Valley, in Atlanta and Shanghai as well.

Are you planning to expand your venture in other countries?

We are aware that technological innovations and talents do not come exclusively from Germany. This is why we are already pursuing an international approach with our locations. We know that we have to look beyond our own horizons and move into national and international technology hotspots.

Are you using Venture Capital? And, if so, – who are your Venture Partners?

For our core business in researching technology for Porsche, we do not use Venture Capitals.

Your Team

How many employees work at your company right now? Are you planning to expand?

We are about 25 people right now, but we are currently and constantly looking for talents that support us as we are on a set growth path here in Berlin. Applicants can find current job advertisements via this link.

Average age is 33.

What kind of attitude should new employees have in order to work at your company?

Especially we seek for open minded, tech savy, curious and diverse people. We love nerds, because we are as well. Your Office

Where is your office located in Berlin?

In the heart Friedrichshain, at the River Spree, Oberbaum Bridge in sight.

What are the special things in your office?

There is quite a lot: From table football to nerf guns to our cosy roof terrace with a wonderful view, sofas and telephone boxes.

We try to offer as many rooms as possible in which productive and creative working is possible.

So everyone can decide individually when to work together on projects and when to concentrate by him- or herself. Basically, we use many open work and meeting rooms to create opportunities for exchange.
