Roq.ad is Germany’s award winning cross-device technology provider dedicated to helping advertisers, publishers and adtech companies succeed in today’s multi-device reality.
Compliant with strict German and EU consumer privacy laws, our proprietary cross-device technology creates more consistent, personalized content and advertising experiences for consumers by matching devices to people and people to households.
Founded in Berlin in the beginning of January 2015, Roq.ad is already paving the way for smarter advertising and optimized marketing spend across all digital devices.
Your Business
What is your core business?
Our core business is our proprietary cross-device technology. Built in-house from the ground up, we offer a variety of cross-device products and solutions for advertisers, publishers and other adtech companies.
We also offer various use cases such as cross-device: retargeting, storytelling, global frequency capping, customer journey analysis, audience amplification and audience segments.
How did you get to your business idea and when was your company established?
Having previously founded a successful mobile advertising start-up in 2008, I recognized the challenges of not being able to technologically link the app world to the mobile browser environment on one single device.
On a more macro scale, it also become evident that users wouldn’t be limited to one device and the need to synchronize content and advertising delivery across user devices would significantly grow.
In order to ensure seamless communication across these devices, it was apparent that the market would need to identify which devices belong to individual users or households in a privacy compliant manner.
Are you using Venture Capital? And if – who are your Venture Partners?
In the start-up world, typically you are not profitable in the beginning and you have a number of years, depending on your business model, where you depend on external investors to finance your operation until you breakeven.
This period needs to be financed by external sources, in our case venture capitalists, we always need to make sure that we have enough money in the bank to build great products and hire great people to sell those great products. Our investors include Astutia and K New Media, as well as, various individual investors.
In Which countries are you active? Are you planning to expand your venture in other countries? And if – where?
We are headquartered in Berlin, with a technology development office in Poznan, Poland. At this current moment in time, our primarily focus is the German speaking DACH region.
We plan to develop Roq.ad into a leading technology business here in Germany, Austria, Switzerland before expanding into the rest of Europe and then eventually venturing to other continents.
Where do you see the company in 5 years?
It is really exciting to think that a small group of talented individuals, who started off in a shabby office, can grow Roq.ad into an international and perhaps even a global technology business in the next 5 years.
We have a lot of ambition and even bigger goals for the future. Since it’s still early days for cross-device, we aim to continuously improve and provide more natural message synchronization across devices in a way that leads to better consumer experiences and happier customers.
Your team
How many employees work at your company right now? Are you planning to expand?
We currently employ 22 full-time employees and are continuously keeping an eye out for fresh, new talent. As we plan to keep steadily growing this year, one of our major priorities is hiring not only the best and the brightest, but finding the best team fit.
What is the average age of your team members?
The average age of our team is 27 and ranges from 21 to 50 years old. We are quite young and value diversity.
What kind of attitude should new employees have to have in order to work at your company?
We expect all of our new employees to be tech-enthusiasts with the drive and desire to innovate the industry. We favor individuals who can tackle problems head on, push their ideas forward and communicate effectively. Our team is also dynamic so we would expect you to be as well.
Why is it fun to work at your company? Do you offer any employee benefits?
We like to keep our employees as motivated and enthusiastic as possible by balancing the more serious day-to-day business dealings with a good dose of fun. Our team is treated to biweekly team lunches, after work drinks and regular offsite team events.
Only a few weeks ago, we took the entire team on a day long wakeboarding trip just outside of Berlin. We have also conquered escape rooms, disco bowled and thrown various parties in our Kreuzberg office.
Do you offer new employees a relocation service or help to relocate?
If needed, we are always happy help make the relocation processes smoother for our new starters. Whether it’s visa sponsorship or help in dealing with bureaucratic institutions, the Roq.ad team will help you officially arrive in Berlin.

Your Office
How big is your Office / Production Site?
After moving offices 4 times since the beginning, we managed to find our perfect fit! Today we are very happy to call our new Kreuzberg office home. The office itself is approximately 340 sqm large and was decorated by our team. Through a join team effort, we have managed to instill our office with a very contemporary industrial style with a slight minimalistic twist.
