In October 2016 we visited OUTFITTERY, here is the interview and have a glance at their nice office!
Hej OUTFITTERY, when was your company founded, your location, in how many countries are you active?
OUTFITTERY was founded in January 2012 by Anna Alex and Julia Bösch. OUTFITTERY is online since April 2012. The personal shopping service for men is active in 8 European countries with its headquarters in Berlin as well as two other offices in Düsseldorf and Zurich.
What is your core business?
OUTFITTERY is a curated online shopping service for men. It brings the best of both offline and online together: the convenience of online shopping with the personal consultation of traditional retail.
The goal of OUTFITTERY is to offer each customer individually and personally compiled outfits. The brand stands for styling expertise and a personal experience.
How did you get to your business idea and when was your company established?
Anna and Julia (the founders of OUTFITTERY) went on a trip to New York where a friend who didn’t like shopping hired a personal shopper for 100$/hour. He was thrilled and absolutely satisfied with the experience.
That was the decisive moment when Anna and Julia decided to introduce this concept in Germany and make it affordable and accessible for everyone.
Are you using Venture Capital? And if so, who are your Venture Partners?
Yes, OUTFITTERY has several investors, e.g. Holtzbrick Ventures, Mangrove Capital Partners, Highland Capital Partners and Northzone Capital.
In which countries are you active? Are you planning to expand your venture in other countries? And if so, where?
OUTFITTERY is currently active in 8 European countries: Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, Luxembourg, Sweden, Denmark and the Netherlands. We’re definitely looking to expand further – stay tuned!
Where do you see the company in 5 years?
Our clear goal is to dress all men in Europe – let’s see how close we can get to this goal in the next five years.
How many employees work at your company right now? Are you planning to expand?
Right now OUTFITTERY has about 300 employees, out of which 150 are stylists. OUTFITTERY is still growing and we’re always looking for new team members to help us get even better at what we’re doing!
What is the average age of your team members?
Approximately 25-30 years.
What kind of attitude should new employees bring along in order to work at your company?
We’re looking for passionate and motivated employees who are able to work independently, have a hands-on mentality, are team players and want to help us to revolutionize the menswear market!
Why is it fun to work at your company? Do you offer any employee benefits?
OUTFITTERY is offering a lot of training possibilities and workshops in different areas. Free fruits and drinks are available during the day and free beer after 6pm.
We offer a truly great start up spirit and host regular team events and parties. Also, every three months we host an external guest speaker for a moderated Q&A session.
Do you offer new employees a relocation service or help to relocate?
Our HR team is always happy to answer any questions regarding moving to or living in Berlin!
The OUTFITTERY headquarters in Berlin stretches along 4 floors with offices for about 250 people. Additionally, we have two smaller stylist offices in Düsseldorf and Zürich, each for about 20-30 employees.
Did you get help from an interior designer in designing the office? And if so, who did you work with?
We did it ourselves but with a lot of help from everyone involved – our conference rooms for example are named after client types.
Thank you OUTFITTERY Team for this interview and the photoshooting!
