What is your core business?
Marley Spoon is bringing convenient, delightful and market-fresh cooking back to the people. We deliver meal kits that include delicious recipes and the seasonal ingredients, in exact quantities, to cook at home.
How did you get to your business idea and when was your company established?
Marley Spoon was launched in Berlin in 2014.
Marley Spoon was conceived to help customers break the monotony of making the same dishes night after night. By cooking with Marley Spoon, customers have the opportunity to try something new without the hassle of researching recipes and shopping for ingredients in the supermarket. Simply go online, select the dishes you’d like to cook, and Marley Spoon does the rest of the work, delivering it straight to your doorstep.
Are you using Venture Capital? Yes
In which countries are you active? Are you planning to expand your venture in other countries? And if so – where?
Marley Spoon is available in Germany, the UK, The Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, the US and Australia. Currently there are no plans to expand further, but rather nurture our existing markets and help them develop.

How many employees work at your company right now? Are you planning to expand?
Currently we have around 100 employees based in the Berlin HQ, with an additional 200 people working in the fulfillment centres and satellite offices worldwide. We are constantly looking to expand the team and bring the very best people to Marley Spoon. The success of the business is down to the people who work here – from the website developers, to chefs, marketers, and fulfillment centre workers, who pack every box by hand.
What is the average age of your team members ?
Marley Spoon’s team members are mainly aged between 25-40yo.
What kind of attitude should new employees have to have in order to work at your company?
Marley Spoon employees should be smart ‘go-getters’ who are passionate and not afraid of making bold decisions to better the product and the company.

Marley Spoon has a trusting and relaxed working atmosphere with flexible working hours, sofas and hot-desking areas, and the opportunity to work remotely when needed.
Weekly staff benefits also include free food and drinks during the day, complimentary Marley Spoon boxes, Wednesday company drinks at a local bar and Friday beers.
Do you offer new employees a relocation service or help to relocate?
The majority of employees, especially in the Berlin office, have relocated to work at Marley Spoon. This means that advice is only a message away on our internal messaging system – from how to navigate German bureaucracy, to the best restaurants in town. Our HR team also provide help with various admin items before and during an employee’s move.

How big is your Office/Production Site?
Our production sites have long outgrown our office spaces around the world.

We are hands-on and do these things ourselves.
