The Berlin based company Wooga was founded in 2009 by Jens Begemann, Philipp Moeser and Patrick Paulisch.
Specialised in creating high quality casual games Wooga is one of the most important developer of mobile games worldwide.



Core Business
Creating mobile games with a strong story and relatable characters is what Wooga is aiming for.
Addressing a global target audience, the company publishes regularly one to two free-to-play games per year.
Well-known games the company has released are for example, Pearl’s Peril, Jelly Splash and Diamond Dash.
With about 55 million downloads since march 2013 the most successful game coming from the game developer is Pearl’s Peril.
All games are available via the iTunes App Store as well as Google Play and Amazon Appstore. Moreover, Wooga has specialised in the field of social games.
Social games are playable on platforms such as Facebook, allowing the users to interact with each other. Downloading the games is for free.
The enterprise earns its money with advertising videos and additional functions.




The Company
At the end of the first year after the company was founded Wooga had 50 employees, today about 200 people from all over the world are working at Wooga’s headquarter in Berlin.
The company has about 40 million active users every month. Round about 70 percent of them are women. In August 2011 Wooga won the European Games Award.
Prevailing against 69 competitors from 17 different countries Wooga was honoured as the best European game developer.
Furthermore, the company’s game “Diamond Dash” was awarded the prize best social game of the year. Just one month later “Gründerszene” named the enterprise the best newcomer start-up of the decade.
In January 2013 Wooga won the People’s Choice Award at the “The Europas” organised by “Techcrunch”, one of the worldwide leading online news portals for technology and internet companies.
The award-winning company generates 95 percent of its sales abroad.


Investors
Including investors like Balderton Capital, Highland and Holtzbrinck Ventures Wooga has received investment funds in the amount of about 32 million US dollars.
After collecting 5 million euros from Balderton Capital and Holtzbrinck Ventures in November 2009, the company obtained about 24 million US dollars in 2011 given by various investors including again Highland Capital Partners and Holtzbrinck as major financiers as well as Balderton Capital and Tenaya Capital.
